What we did for September 11 victimsIn the days following the terrorists' attacks of September 11th, Larry Stewart was selected to lead a national effort to create the largest pro bono program in history to deliver free legal services to thousands of victims and victims’ families. Since October 2001, Larry Stewart has served as President of Trial Lawyers Care and has guided its efforts. Trial Lawyers Care recruits volunteer attorneys from throughout the nation and matches them to September 11th victims. It provides extensive training, education and support for the volunteer attorneys. There are already over 1200 clients being represented by Trial Lawyer Care attorneys and it is projected that the number of clients will exceed 2000. As part of his efforts on behalf of Trial Lawyers Care, Larry Stewart has appeared on national T.V. in such programs as Crossfire, Nightline, Hardball and Don Immus as well as being interviewed in many national and local newspapers. Trial Lawyers Care has received numerous awards and national recognition for this groundbreaking program. Larry Stewart has been recognized for his work with Trial Lawyers Care by the The Florida Bar’s 2002 G. Kirk Hass Humanitarian Award. On January 5th 2004 Larry Stewart received the following hand written letter from Kenneth J. Feinberg, who is responsible for the administration of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. The letter is one of the most significant recognitions for a job well done that we have ever received. Click here to view Mr. Feinberg's letter. In addition to his work as President of Trial Lawyers Care, Larry Stewart represented three victim families. Those families, like other September 11th victims, suffered indescribable loss and grief. While nothing can replace the loss of loved ones, through his efforts, those families have the resources to begin to rebuild their lives. His work was entirely without charge to the families.
