CHRYSLER 300 EXPLORER BURNS IN FIREBALL AND 49 YEAR OLD HUSBAND AND FATHER OF THREE IS DEAD

The widow of a 49 year old man has hired us to investigate post collision fire in the family’s 2005 Chrysler 300 that caused her husband’s death. Our client’s husband drifted off the road, side swiped a telephone pole and then hit a second pole. When the vehicle came to a stop he was alive but the impact with the telephone poles ripped open the car’s plastic fuel tank and gasoline sprayed out causing a horrific fire. He breathed in the poisonous smoke and within minutes was burned to death before anyone could get him out.

This was not an accident that should have resulted in the driver’s death. Our client’s husband died a horrible death because the fuel tank was not protected from damage in foreseeable side impact collisions and caused the fire by allowing gasoline to spray into the hot muffler on impact. Other auto manufacturers shield the fuel tank so that the fuel does not cause a post collision fire. Chrysler, however, did not do that.

We are preparing to file suit against Chrysler for design defects in the vehicle that allowed this fire to happen.

The deceased is survived by his wife and three children.
